Lee University’s Chorale and Choral Union will hold a joint concert, “How Now Shall We Live?” on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.

The program will feature the music of eminent composers William Byrd, Michael Haydn, Orlande de Lassus, and Franz Schubert, along with the music of contemporary voices like Richard Bjella, Moses Hogan, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Z. Randall Stroope, and Lee University’s own Dr. John Wykoff.

The performance is an exploration of music that deals with human responses to suffering, irrevocable loss, and pain, according to Dr. Joshua Cheney, director of Choral Union and assistant professor of choral music.
The night will also feature works by Ludwig van Beethoven in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

Lee University Choral Union performs choral music and major masterworks for mixed chorus and orchestra. The ensemble is a unique blend of Lee music and non-music majors.

Lee University Chorale, directed by Dr. William Green, dean of the School of Music, is an ensemble of select vocalists that places an emphasis on the diversity and breadth of traditional choral literature and has been featured in performances at Carnegie Hall and throughout Europe.

"We will be honored for our guests to join us as we explore this music and look forward to sharing this experience with the Lee and Cleveland community,” said Cheney.

The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. Pangle Hall is located on the corner of Church Street and Central Avenue.
