Biology major, Mathematics minor
Class of December 2019
Jillian “Jill” Sturtevant, originally from Atascadero, California, is currently in her third year at Lee and is a part of Tri Beta, a biology honor society, and Lee Creation Care Club (LCCC).
Jill is a student worker for Dr. Michael Freake, professor of biology, and Dr. Matthew Krepps, professor of chemistry. She also assists Dr. John Hisey, associate professor of biology, in his research on the population dynamics of raccoons.
“With the professors, it’s more than just them teaching me and leaving the classroom. We build a friendship and comradery and are able to just talk about life,” says Jill.
After her time at Lee, Jill hopes to get her doctorate in bio-mathematics. “You can be so creative with both together,” said Jill. “You are literally trailing the dynamic of a population of a species and solving real world problems.” She would love to study internationally and end up working somewhere she can use her specific set of skills to help people.
